Sew: Ana White work aprons version 2:
Ana and I added a few options to the original pattern and design.
1. We added the option of pleat tucks in the main apron piece where it meets the waistband, for those that may prefer an apron that opens up:
These tucks allow the apron to lie flat against the body while giving 'room' in the pockets for tools and supplies.

You can see how the pockets magically have more space, they're more open:
2. We added a pencil slot option near the right edge.
The perfect cozy spot for your pencil to rest and you'll always know where to find it.
3. We also added a ruffle detail to some of the aprons.
Kick up that cute girly factor just a notch with a fun ruffle on your apron.
Here's how to make the modifications:
OPTION - ADD PLEAT TUCKS:
1. Use the original apron plans from Ana White here and my post here.
Before you pin the waistband to the apron in Step 7 make 4 small 3/8" tucks and pin:
(I made them at 3" and 7" off center on both sides.)

OPTION - ADD THE PENCIL SLOT:
Again using the original plans from Ana here or my post here,
at Step 3 add another stitch line 2" from the edge and only through the front and back pocket pieces.
The solid black line below denotes the stitching line:
OPTION - ADD THE RUFFLE DETAIL:
Using 1" bias cut strip at 48" long, run a long zig zag stitch just off-center and pull one thread to get the 'ruffle':
Pin the ruffle to the front pocket piece 1.5" from bottom edge:
Then straight stitch down the middle:
Thank you Ana for all your help and constructive comments in making the work aprons not only look good but provide purpose and function for all DIYers.
