"P" is for Platform 9 3/4

Paint: Platform 9 3/4 sign


If you are a Harry Potter fan than you know the meaning behind this sign.
(I knew nothing about Harry Potter before this project - read the background info here.)

A custom request from a reader who is in the process of transforming her large garage into a British Pub, including a vestibule area meant to look and feel like Kings Cross Station where this sign will go.



She sent me a picture of the real sign in Kings Cross Station used in the filming of the movie:



Here's how I made the sign:

1. Cut 3/4" plywood to 24" x 6.4".
Prime and paint two coats black.
Print out letters to size and arrange on wood:


2. Trace outline of letters with ballpoint pen, the pressure of the pen leaves a slight indent in the wood:


3. Paint on and inside the indent:


4. Seal with spray clear acrylic:


Add 2 sawtooth hangers on back and ready to hang:
