A wooden display tree for key fobs.
I whipped together this little tree from scrap wood pieces.
I needed a solution to display key fobs for a few upcoming shows.
Most importantly the newest Halloween fobs:
Here's how I made the wooden tree:
1. Cut wood pieces and sand smooth:
1 - 3/4" plywood @ 6" x 6"
1 - 2x2 furring @ 13"l
10 - 5/16" dowel @ 5 1/2"l
2. Predrill screw hole at center of square piece using a countersink bit.
And pre drill screw hole at center of 2x2.
3. Screw base into 2x2 using 2 1/2" wood screw from bottom and wood glue.
Drill holes for 'limbs' using 5/16" bit, hole is 4" from base and goes straight all the way through the 2x2.
4. Apply wood glue and insert dowels into hole, hammer in to secure and give a slight upwards tilt.
Drill next hole slightly above first limbs going through 2x2 on the opposite sides.
5. Insert limbs and repeat process until you reach the top.
The limbs are tilted upwards to keep items from sliding off.
6. Fill up limbs with key fobs:
These limbs are about 5" long and hold 6 fobs each.
Much better than laying the fobs on the table.
You can bet I'll find another use for this tree when it's not filled with fobs.
Got any ideas?
