"P" is for Progress

And patience. It's been 2 weeks since they started the kitchen so I thought I'd give a progress report. All the walls are down, the new beam is up to carry the weight and plumbing is done, electrical is holding us up at the moment but he should be here today.

A few shots but it's hard to get a real feel for how open it is.

"G" is for Graduation

Yesterday girl #1 graduated from Kindergarten!! I signed up for the goodie bags for her class on purpose. I'm tired of receiving goodie bags full of plastic, cheapy junk for every occassion so I wanted to make the goodie bags good.

Each classmate (there are only 8 in her class) received a oilcloth lunch bag (which I made using the pattern from Martha Stewart Living).

Of course I had to throw in some candy because that's what every kid is really looking for so I had gotten some blue plastic grad cups last year on clearance (way to think ahead!) and put the candy in there.

All packaged up with cellophane and ribbon:

And then I painted a frame for each and used rub on letters for the name of the school (blocked out by that rectangle of white paper) and Kindergarten.

Now I just need to get a good picture and put it in the frame.

"S" is for Summer

It's official, all the kids are done with school which means all of the end of year teacher gifts have been distributed. I thought I'd share what I made for the teachers this year.

Buddy boy is done with nursery school and moving on to Montessori next year. The class picnic is over and as a little gift each of his teachers received a oilcloth lunch bag with a goodie inside:

I used the pattern for the oilcloth lunch bag from Martha Stewart. And inside each bag was a pennant banner made from cotton fabrics sewn onto grosgrain ribbon:

I figure they might be useful for any celebration or even to decorate their classroom. I think they're pretty darn cute I might have to make some for myself!

For the older girls I made each set of teachers a 'Welcome' banner for their classroom door.

And FINALLY the kitchen renovation has begun. It's hard to get a good picture with all the plastic hanging everywhere so I only have one to show:

Still have a long way to go but it will be worth it.
