"N" is for Name

Sew: pouches personalized with full name

I used drop cloth canvas for the exterior and Riley Blake's Hoo's in the Forest flower jacks in pink left over from this dress for the lining and letters.

The letters are outlined in a tight zig zag stitch:

This pouch is made with white terry cloth and a floral print:

My sister requested this pouch for a 7 year olds birthday, you can bet Lucie must have a hard time finding personalized products with the correct spelling of her name.

I hope Lucie likes her new pouch for all her lotions and lip gloss.

Here's how I made the pouches:

1. Print out letters (I used Copse font size 200).
Iron on double sided fusible heat n bond to wrong side of letter fabric:

2. Using a light box place print out face down then fabric face down on top of print out.
Trace letters and cut out:

3. Prepare pieces:
1 - terry cloth @ 13" x 17"
1 - med. weight fusible interfacing @ 13" x 17"
2 - lining fabric @ 13" x 8.5"
1 - 12" zipper
ribbon for zipper pull

4. Iron interfacing to terry piece.
Begin ironing letters with middle letter:

5. Zig zag stitch around letters using tight small setting.

 6. Sew in zipper at edges between lining pieces:

7. Sew sides seams, miter corners, turn right side out.
Press in bottom lining raw edge and top stitch closed.

The completed pouch measures 12"w x 7.5"h x 1"thick at base.

This 'grace' pouch is slightly smaller, 9"w x 6"h x 3/4"thick at base:

Cute gifts you can make personal any way you like.

"R" is for Replica

Paint: replica of antique metal pub sign

Can you tell which one is the antique?

A special request from a friend who wanted this sign for her living room, the style and colors (with a slight change to burnt orange) were a perfect fit for her decor, but the price for the antique was ridiculous.

She sent me the challenge and I accepted.

It was definitely a little tricky getting all the details and colors in place but I love a good challenge.

Here's how I made the sign:

1. Cut 3/4" plywood to requested size 33" x 28".
Prime and paint base color.
Print out lettering to match and fit space.
Trace letters with ballpoint pen which leaves indent in wood to paint:

2. Cut shield shape from craft paper folded in half, trace around edge:

3. Paint shield base color:

4. Cut out ribbon banner from craft paper and trace for each side:

5. Start painting in details:

6. Add lettering to the banner:

7. Seal with clear satin poly and add hanging hardware to back:

"P" is for Party #2

Pink Barbie party roundup:

Ruffled plastic pink tablecloth:

1. Purchase tablecover roll of plastic:

2. Fold over top edge just enough so bottom edge skims floor:

3. Gather folded edges and tape to table edge:

Easy and inexpensive:

Hang tablecloth cover to create draping:

1. Use small Command hooks at corners:

2. Gather plastic tablecloth and wrap with twist tie:

3. Hook twist tie loop onto Command hook:

4. Add tulle to completely cover the Command hook:

I made a temporary TV cover up birthday sign, see the how to here.

I sewed Barbie silhouette pouches as favors:

with pink polka dot lining

One for each cousin.

The Barbie silhouette idea came from the cupcake toppers:

I ordered the toppers from here.
And forgot to get a good picture until half the cupcakes were gone!

For the school party I made cake pops, see how to here:

She was most excited about getting Barbie out of the cake:

And she's wearing the party dress I made here:

Thank goodness I have a few months until the next birthday, it's exhausting!
