"F" is for Footstool

A footstool makeover.

Which coincidentally matches the wingchairs I made over a few months ago.

Here's the before:

And now:

I made the same pleated white trim, same drop cloth fabric, the paint job is slightly different.

The curvy shape of the stool mimics the chair shape perfectly.

Here's how I made over the stool:
1. Remove fabric cushion piece.
Sand off old finish:

2. Paint two coats MS rainwater, two coats BM sugar cookie.
Sand to distress.
Seal with satin poly.
(I purposely choose not to use primer, the original wood stain will seep through but I like the look, it makes for more contrast with the fabric and trim.)

3. Using a staple gun attach the drop cloth fabric piece.

4. Attach cushion back on to frame.

5. Make trim (see how to here) and hot glue around edge:

All dressed up and no where to go!

Detail of finish, here you can see the rainwater blue color that's hiding underneath:

A perfect match:

One last side by side:

Now can the kids keep it clean?
